I am 12 years old. Over a period of 5 or 6 months I developed a problem where my head would twitch. Anything that put weight on my head, such as a baseball cap, batting helmet, or even long hair would cause my head to involuntarily twitch like crazy. The twitching bcame increasingly worse over the months where it did not matter if I had anything on my head or not - and got to the point where people would ask my mom if I had Tourettes. The twitching was out of control. My neck hurt all the time and I looked really weird. My parents started to worry about my ability to "fit in" and lead a normal life as an adult. They were very scard of the long term affects of the condition. First, my mom took me to my pediatriciation who said it was "Chronic Tic Disorder" and recommended medication and to go see a neuorologist. I also saw an opthomologist to simply rule out anything to due with my eyes. My parents did not want me to take medicine, but I was in a lot of physical pain. So I asked my mom to take me to a Chiropractor to give it a try. I have no idea what happened to get my neck vertebrae so out of wack but I could NOT control the twitching and it started to interfere with my ability to concentrate in school, my school work, and sports (baseball at the time).. My mom looked on our insurance to find a doctor who was part of our medical plan. She called around and Dr. Griffin actually got on the phone and talked to her about my condition and how Chiropracic care could possibly help my condition. Dr. Griffin made my mom feel confident that it was "worth a try" to see if any benefits could be derived before my neuorology appointment. Dr. Griffin really cares. She took a lot of time to understand my problem and help us to understand why she thought Chiropractic care would be beneficial. The first treatment gave me IMMEDIATE relief Within weeks, I reached the point where the twitching/TICS were gone from appointment appointment. In fact, by the time I went to the neuorologist it had been several weeks since I had had a Twitch/TIC.. Today, after 3.5 months of treatment I do not twitch at all. In fact, I have not had a single twitch//TIC in at least 6 weeks. Dr. Griffin is the best - she has helped my parents understand more about the body and healing without medicine.
